It appears that Barclays is still offering an additional 15,000 bonus miles after spending $750 every month for 3 months. The promotion seems to be triggered for existing US Airways Premier World MasterCard holders by completing your first purchase followed by a period of inactivity (usually around 2 months). For a data point, I applied for the card in mid March and made my first purchase on March 20th. My bonus posted soon after and did not spend on the card since…until I received the additional 15k bonus offer email on May 3st. My guess is that making the first purchase to earn the signup bonus and then curbing spending on the card will potentially get you the offer a couple months later.

Since I already received the 30,000 signup bonus after the first purchase on the card, this essentially makes this the total bonus 45,000 bonus miles after spending $2,250. I consider this well worth the extra spend because the miles will eventually be combined with AAdvantage miles, which are some of the most valuable airline miles. During the same round of credit card applications I also applied for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard 50,000 mile bonus, so there is an easy way to get close to 100k miles that in the next year will combined into AAdvantage miles.

For everyone that has just received the card, it seems that this promotion is still going and that your best chance of getting it is by completing the first purchase then put the card away for a couple months.

    • Did you received a targeted offer for the promotion? There should be a link to apply the promo through that email.

  • got the same deal, except for me it’s July, Aug, Sept. It’s a great deal; suppose you spend exactly 750 each month. Then you’ll have earned 15,000 + (750*3)= 22,250 miles. Instead of 1 mi per dollar, you earn 7.6 miles per dollar. Of course, it’ll be a bit less than that, but still great.

    • Agreed, it is a great deal. It is an easy and cheap 22,250 miles and you can meet the $750 monthly spend requirement with everyday spending or Amazon Payments.
