Hotel Engine is among latest hotel booking sites to hit the market and is currently offering $25 for new customers when they sign-up for a new account. Similar to other hotel booking websites—Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia.com—Hotel Engine allows you to search for hotels offering the cheapest rates at your destination city. The website launched in February, 2014, but has been receiving more press recently because they are offering a sign-up bonus of $25 to new customers.
All you need to do is sign-up through a referral link (you don’t have to use mine, but thank if you do and I will also earn $25 after your first booking) and the $25 credit will be deposited to your account instantly. One nice thing about the rewards program is that credits do not expire, so when you earn free credit through referrals or bookings you don’t have to worry about losing them.
As always after you register feel free to leave your link in the comments below. The normal sign-up credit is offered for new customers is $5 if you don’t apply through a referral link.
Earn $25 free Hotel Engine credits
The credit can be used right away once you create an account and one nice aspect is that you don’t have to book a minimum amount to use the credits. However for bookings under $50 a maximum of $10 will be applied to the reservation. When you book a hotel you can apply your credit and your rate will be automatically adjusted.
One of the drawbacks of the site is that it currently only offers hotel bookings in the United States, however the website does say that they will soon be offering hotels internationally. A lot of times I also prefer to use a website that searches multiple 3rd party booking sites to find the best deals, such as Kayak.com or Hotelscombined.com, so it may be worth checking other sites to see if HotelEngine.com offers the best price. Also note that the site is currently in beta version, so expect changes in the future.
A few unique perks that the site offer to customers include:
- Earn 5% cash back on all bookings
- Earn 10% cash back with hotels that have a ‘2X’ icon
- No booking fees
- Each hotel is given a walk score
The Bottom Line
It’s always good to see more competition with websites that attempt to offer the lowest deals to gain your business, but time will tell if Hotel Engine actually provides the lowest prices. In either case it may be worth it to sign-up to earn $25 in free credits and test the site out compared to other sites. I probably won’t use the site much until it offers booking options in countries outside the United States, but when it does it may be useful for finding budget hotel stays abroad.
