With American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, you can get to extraordinary destinations and create happy memories that will last a lifetime. Simply buy or gift the miles and start planning the trip of your dreams. And, when you buy miles through January 31, 2013, you’ll earn up to 15,000 bonus miles! When you gift those miles, the bonus miles go to the recipient.”
To get the 15,000 bonus miles, 40,000 miles must be bought or gifted. This chart shows the different bonus levels:
This seems to be a little ambiguous because there are gaps between the tiers of bonus miles you can earn. There is no word as to how many bonus miles you earn for say…39,999.
Terms and Conditions: Transactions are nonrefundable and nonreversible. Please allow 72 hours for purchased AAdvantage® miles to post to the designated AAdvantage account. Please allow 5 days for the bonus miles to post. The bonus miles earned are calculated based on the total miles purchased during the promotional period, regardless of the number of transactions. For example, a purchase or gift transaction of 25,000 miles and a second transaction of 5,000 miles during January 2013, (for a total of 30,000 miles) will earn 8,000 miles. Bonus offer begins 12:00 am CST Jan 1, 2013 and ends 11:59 pm CST Jan 31, 2013. If purchasing miles, the AAdvantage bonus miles will be posted to the purchasers’ AAdvantage account. If giving miles, the AAdvantage bonus miles will be posted to the receivers’ AAdvantage account. buyAAmiles and giftAAmiles transactions are limited to a combined maximum of 60,000 miles per account, per calendar year. Bonus miles earned do not count toward the annual limit. AAdvantage miles purchased or earned through this promotion do not count toward elite-status qualification or Million Miler(SM) status.
