The welcome bonus on the American Express Mercedes-Benz Platinum Card just increased to 75,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $3,000 within the 3 months. The offer is available until June 22, 2016.
The normal offer on this card is 50,000 bonus points, so with the new offer you're getting an extra 25,000 Membership Rewards points.
The American Express Mercedes-Benz Platinum Card has long been a card that never received the attention it deserved.
The reason this card doesn't get a lot of hype? The card is not a affiliate credit card, which means bloggers don't get paid for referrals, leading to most bloggers tending to ignore it.
However, it's a valuable card and this is the highest offer I have seen on the card making it worth it for some who can use the card's generous travel perks.
Quick Notes:
This is a separate product from the regular American Express Platinum Card, which means you can earn the bonus on this card if you have already had the regular version.
This is a charge card, which means that it may be easier to get approved since the card does not have a pre-set spending limit and must be paid in full every month.
The application does still result in a hard pull, but you can combine pulls if you apply for another Amex offer, such as the Hilton HHonors Surpass and Hilton HHonors Amex which are both offering all-time high offers (100k and 75k respectively).

Card Benefits
$200 Air Travel Credit
The card offers an annual $200 airline incidental travel credit. This benefit is offered per calendar year, which means that if you get the card now you can use the $200 credit both this calendar year and next. This means getting $400 in airline travel credit back before the 2nd annual fee hits!
The air travel credit can be used for incidental charges - checked bags, fees, and basically anything that does not get coded as airfare. Airline gift cards have been able to slip under the radar in the past, but I can't say for sure on the current situation and with which airlines this still works.
Note: Once you have your card you need to enroll and designate an airline online here. Authorized users do not get an additional $200 air travel credit, but they are allowed to make charges that apply towards the shared $200 credit.
Airport Lounge Access
You'll get complimentary airport lounge access as long are you keep the card. Lounges you can access include
- Priority Pass Select (free entry for cardholder, $27 per extra guest)
- Centurion Lounges (free entry for up to 2 guests)
- Delta Sky Clubs (free entry for cardholder, $29 per extra guest, need same dayDelta boarding pass)
- Airspace Lounges (free entry for up to 2 guests)
An easy way to get extra free lounge access for a spouse/partner is to add an authorized user on your card. Any authorized user will also get the same airport lounge access offered to the primary cardholder.
$100 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Credit
The card offers a $100 fee credit when you apply for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.
Free Hotel Status
You'll get complimentary hotel elite status with both Starwood Preferred Guest, Hilton HHonors, and Fine Hotels and Resorts.
Here are the details:
- SPG Gold status - You must call 800-525-3355 to enroll.
- Hilton Gold status - You can enroll online.
- Fine Hotels and Resorts - Enjoy elite member benefits varying by hotel, including upgrades, Wi-Fi, breakfast.
No Foreign Transaction Fee
The card does not have a foreign transaction fee, which make sit a good choice to take on international trips.
Platinum Card Concierge Service
I have never used these types of services much, but you can get assistance with booking hotels, making reservations, and researching general information and logistics about a travel destination.
$100 Certificate Towards Genuine Mercedes-Benz Accessories
If you decide to keep the card long-term you will get a $100 certificate good towards Genuine Mercedes-Benz Accessories upon renewal of your card account. This may not be a huge perk, but can definitely help cover the high annual fee if you can also take advantage of the other valuable travel benefits.
With the $100 you can go into a Mercedes-Benz dealership and redeem it for accessories such as coffee mugs, bags, and other Genuine Mercedes-Benz Accessories. This gear is mostly just overpriced gadgets that have a Mercedes-Benz logo on it, but hey you might as well use the free $100!
The Bottom Line
The Amex Mercedes-Benz Platinum Card is offering a 75,000 Membership Rewards points welcome bonus after spending $3,000 in the first three months.
You can transfer Membership Rewards points to 20 hotel and airline programs including Delta, Aeroplan, ANA, British Airways, Singapore and others.
For a quick and easy guide to looking up which airlines you can transfer points to be sure to check out the this chart.
The card does have a hefty $475 annual fee which is not waived the first year, but it also comes with a handful of valuable travel perks including $200 airline fee credit, access to airport lounges, and hotels status.
