For several months the application for the Arrival Plus card directly through Barclaycard’s website showed a “Check back later to apply” message.
Oddly enough the application never got pulled from affiliate channels, but only the official Barclaycard website. Now it appears that the application for the card is back up on their site and the good news is that the 40,000 mile welcome bonus is still intact!
The last time Barclaycard had pulled the application on the Arrival Plus card they devalued the card by lowering the mileage rebate and increased the minimum redemption level.
No New Changes to The Arrival Plus Card
The good news is that it appears there are no major changes to the Barclaycard Arrival Plus card.
The 40,000 mile welcome bonus after spending $3,00 within the first 90 days in still intact, the card still earns 2x miles on all purchases, you’ll get 5% of your miles back when you redeem, and the annual fee remained at $89.
The Arrival Plus card still ranks as one of my top travel rewards credit cards due to it’s across the board 2% earning and simple redemption options.
The best part is that it’s entirely possible to earn the 40,000 mile welcome bonus multiple times. In fact I’ve successfully earned the welcome bonus three times, each time closing my account just a week or so before reapplying.
Arrival No-Annual Fee Card Only Available for Downgrades
An interesting point is that the no-annual fee version of the Barclay Arrival card is no longer available to new customers. This means at this point you won’t find a working application for the card online.
However, in the past I’ve been able to downgrade my Arrival Plus to the no annual fee version and via Doctor of Credit it appears this is still possible.

You'll also get 5% of your miles back when you redeem your points, to use on your next redemption. The card has Chip+PIN technology, which can be useful for international travel. Especially when traveling in Europe. Lastly, the card comes with a complimentary online FICO® Credit Score and of course has no foreign transaction fees. |
