Continuing to try to keep customers spending on the US Airways through the merger Barclays just launched a new bonus mile earning promotion for existing US Airways MasterCard holders.

Barclays is offering existing US Airways Dividend Miles® MasterCard® or your AAdvantage® Aviator™ MasterCard® cardmembers to earn 50% more miles on all purchases from March 1 through June 30, 2015.

Not to mention, the US Airways MasterCard is still offering a 50,000 mile welcome bonus after the first purchase and paying the $89 annual fee. This card won't be around much longer as the merger goes through, so it could be a great idea to grab it before its gone and earn the 50,000 bonus miles!

Each cardmember can earn up to a maximum of 10,000 bonus miles. If you have multiple US Airways MasterCards it’s possible that both of your accounts may received the offer.

This promotion may be targeted and the terms say “Offer is valid for select cardmembers and is not transferable,” however there are widespread reports of many receiving the offer and even on both cards if they have multiple US Airways MasterCards.

How to Get the 50% More US Airways Miles Offer

To see if you’re eligible for this offer all you need to do is log into your Barclays US Airways MasterCard online account.

Here are the full promotion details:

"Register now to earn 50% more miles on all your purchases made with either your US Airways Dividend Miles® MasterCard® or your AAdvantage® Aviator™ MasterCard® from March 1 through June 30, 2015, up to a maximum of 10,000 bonus miles."

It appears that the offer may be targeted, so log into your Barclaycard account to see if you are eligible.

What's This Offer Worth?

Barclays has released some great ‘spend to earn’ bonus mile promotions is the past such as the spend $500 or $750 per month to earn 15,000 bonus miles.

This offer may be worth it to anyone who has the card and wants to earn extra US Airways or American Airlines miles at minimal cost.

You’ll earn 1.5 miles per dollar spent on everyday spending, instead of the normal 1 mile per dollar spent. On US Airways and American Airlines purchases you’ll earn 3 miles per dollar, instead of the the normal 2 miles per dollar.

The maximum possible earned bonus miles is 10,000 miles, but at a rate of 1.5 miles per dollar on everyday spending it’s a great deal. On everyday spend you're essentially buying US Airways miles for 0.67 cents each.

It even beats the everyday spending earning rate of 1.25 mile per dollar with the American Express SPG cards. These cards are a popular and a more sustainable way to earn airline miles by transferring points to an airline in 20,000 point increments to get the 5,000 mile bonus.

Full offer terms:

“Offer is valid for select cardmembers and is not transferable. Qualified cardmembers who register by June 30, 2015, will earn a 50% bonus on the miles they earned on purchases with their card between March 1, 2015, and June 30, 2015 (the promotional period) up to a maximum of 10,000 miles. Bonus miles will not apply to miles earned from other promotions during this period. To be eligible for this offer, the cardmember's account must be open, active and in good standing throughout the entire promotional period and they must have registered for this promotion by June 30, 2015. Purchases made during periods when your account is delinquent, or your account is otherwise not in good standing as defined in your Cardmember Agreement do not qualify for this offer. Your bonus miles will appear on your statement 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion.”
