Evolve Money is a free online bill pay service that allows you to pay merchants who participate in this program using a debit card or “cash.” Evolve Money defines cash as money sent via RELoadit™ Packs.

The point that is important to notice for manufactured spending is the debit card option since purchasing these with a point earning credit card is one of the easiest ways to earn extra miles and points. Evolve Money accepts both Visa and MasterCard debit cards as well as prepaid cards.

This means you can buy a Visa or MasterCard gift card from your store or website of choice (hopefully a bonus category) and use the gift card to pay bills that normally only accept a checking account withdrawal as a form of payment. You can also schedule these payments up to 45 days ahead of time!

Auto loans, student loans (who doesn’t have those piling up these days?), rent, and mortgage payments are some of the typical bills where it’s rare and unlikely that you are allowed to pay using a credit card. Evolve Money can be a great way to earn extra miles and points for bill payments you normally make with a checking account.

Although you can also use a prepaid debit gift card with Evolve Money to pay bills that accept credit card as a form of payment, this won’t be worthwhile unless the gift card is purchased at a bonus category merchant with enough points earned to offset the gift card fees. Remember the main goal of manufactured spending is to amass points for an extremely low cost.

Evolve Money does have its limitations in that currently no credit card companies are listed meaning that you cannot pay your credit card bills, as you can with Bluebird or Serve.

How to Register for Evolve Money

1. Go to Evolve Money’s homepage and hit ‘Sign Up.’

The registration is straightforward. Once you complete it, login to your account and start paying those bills that won’t accept credit cards such as loans, utilities, etc.

Adding Payees and Paying Bills

Once you login, on the upper right hand corner you should see the ‘Add’ button.

1. Click the ‘Add’ button and search for your payee – in this case Nissan for an auto loan

2. Select the payee from the search results

3. Fill out the billing information needed.

4. Click ‘Save Bill’. You should now be able to see your payee on your ‘Home’ screen.

5. Enter the amount you want to pay (in this example it is Nissan), and select the date of delivery and click ‘Next.’

6. Next, click ‘Debit Card.’

7. Fill out the information pertaining to your debit gift card.

8. Click ‘Pay’ either at the bottom or on the upper right hand corner of the screen.

You just successfully either partially or fully liquidated one gift card without any further fees to pay a bill you normally would pay for through your bank account or using a credit card (which would earn you only 1 point per dollar.) During this process you hopefully use the points earning credit card that earn you the most points possible (2x or more).

Quick Recap

This post shows you how useful a free bill pay service like Evolve Money can be, and one that not only allows, but encourages the use of gift cards.

This method clearly allows the comfort of not going to Walmart and standing in line, however it does have limitations, the biggest being not having any credit card companies as payees. For some people who have large loans that need payments, this can be a great way to earn points / miles for those loans!

    • Hi worldtraveler2018
Besides the Suntrust Delta debit card, there isn’t another way to directly earn miles… although any gift cards bought with a mile earning credit card earns miles… use an SPG card and its like 1.25 miles per dollar.

  1. I think you need to add a note at the end as of a few days ago, Evolve no longer allows paying bills with debit GC without a fee. if you select no fee payment, it will process with error.
