The United MileagePlus Explorer Card has been offering a lucrative welcome bonus offer of 50,000 United miles for the past several years. There’s no doubt it’s of the best airline credit card offers out there given that United miles are incredibly valuable when used to book awards with free stopovers or one-ways. The problem is that the 50,000 bonus mile offer is rarely a public offer and to receive it you often need to be targeted.

Some people will see the 50k offer when they go to and others will see the inferior 30k mile offer. There are however a few other ways to get the offer, or at least increase you chances of being targeted.

Apply at a Chase Branch

There are reports of the United MileagePlus Explorer Card 50,000 welcome bonus mile offer available at Chase branches. I can’t confirm every Chase branch will have the same offer, but this is likely your best bet for receiving the 50,000 bonus mile offer on the card. Let me know in the comments if you have seen the 50,000 offer available at your local Chase branch.

Log Into Your United MileagePlus Account

Enter your MileagePlus account number on this page or be logged in and try this page to see if you are targeted for the 50,000 bonus mile offer. The offer should be for 50,000 bonus miles after spending $1,000 within the first three months, plus an extra 5,000 miles for adding an authorized user and a $50 statement credit (OFFER EXPIRED).

The offer still appears to be targeted through the link above, but if your MileagePlus account qualifies for the offer you should get the landing page for the 50k offer. If not, you will see the normal 30k offer.

3 Ways to Get the 50,000 Mile United MileagePlus Explorer Card Offer

Everyones offer may not be for the 50,000 mile bonus, but it’s worth checking to see if you account qualifies.

Make a United Reservation (or Dummy Reservation)

You may also be able to see the 50,000 bonus mile offer on when making a reservation. You can even try to make a dummy reservation to see if you the 50,000 mile offer appears on the booking or confirmation page during the check-out process. Ultimately this is still probably a targeted offer based on your MileagePlus account, but you can try being both logged-in and not.

Receive a Targeted Offer via Email or Mail

If you are enrolled to receive offers from Chase you may receive superior targeted offers every now and again in the mail. Chase along with other banks still send out offers in the mail targeting customers with a unique sign-up code for an increased welcome bonus.

If you receive offers via mail beware that you will likely receive a ton—I often get several per week. You can always opt out of receiving prescreened credit card and insurance offers if you want to stop the junk mail. You can register to opt out from prescreened offers via this page and are given the option to choose to opt out for the next 5 years or indefinitely.

Having recent United MileagePlus account activity may trigger your account to be targeted for a better offer.

Are You a Business Owner?

The United MileagePlus Explorer Business Card is still offering an increased welcome bonus offer of 50,000 United miles after spending $2,000 within the first three months (OFFER EXPIRED).

This is marketed as a limited-time offer, however there are no details that say how long it will last. If you have been considering to apply for a United credit card and have a business this is a great offer to go for.
