Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) points are incredibly valuable and Starwood has a huge list (1,100+) of great properties worldwide, including aspirational brands such as W Hotels and St. Regis.

New Changes Coming to Amex SPG Card August 11th, 2015

There are some noteworthy changes coming to the Amex SPG card which will take place next week.

Here’s a list of the changes coming to the Amex SPG card:

  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Free unlimited Boingo Wi-Fi (normally costs $39 a month)
  • Complimentary premium in-room internet access
  • Annual fee now $95 (was $65)
  • New card design

The SPG Business Credit Card is also getting the added benefit of complimentary access to Sheraton Club Lounges. Most of these lounges offer a good place to work and relax, as well as complimentary breakfast and a complimentary evening cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres.

You can redeem Starpoints at any of SPG’s hotel brands.

One feature that adds a ton of value to SPG points and will remain intact is the 5,000 Starpoint bonus when points are transferred to participating frequent flyer program in increments of 20,000 points. Among other airline programs for U.S. based travelers transfers to American Airlines and Alaska Airlines can be particularly valuable.

Will The 30,000 Bonus SPG Point Offer Be Back?

In the past American Express has offered a limited time increased sign-up bonus of 30,000 points on the SPG Amex cards. A little insight and guessing from when Amex released the offers in the past points that it will be this August if they follow any patterns.

I’d like to say that the 30,000 point Amex SPG offer will come out this month as I am holding off on my next round of credit card applications in hope of grabbing the higher offer. I guess only time will tell and possibly Amex will double up and release the new card benefits and a new offer at the same time!
