Uber just launched a new promo of $30 free Uber credit for new members who sign-up through a referral link. Mine is linked below, or please feel free to share you link in the comments!

This is a great deal since after sign-up your first ride is free up to $30, simple right? Any ride over $30, you pay the difference. If the ride is under $30, your full credit is still used. You’ll get the credit in your account as soon as you sign-up using a referral link.

This offer has come and gone in the past. It will likely be back in the future, but if you’re new to Uber now is a great time to sign-up and I can’t say how long the increased new user bonus will be around.

If you use my referral link to sign-up, I’ll also receive Uber credit (so thank you in advance if you do use it!) Also, if you have one feel free to leave it in the comments for others to use.

Here’s a full list of all the cities you can get an Uber ride → Uber Cities

New to Uber?

I’m sure you’ve heard of Uber, but in case you haven’t used it yet, they offer transportation services in most major cities all over the world. This includes Bangkok, Lima, Sydney, Rome, Vienna, Bogota and the list goes on.

Simply put, Uber can be a great way to save on taxi fares if you’re traveling in any of the cities they work in. Another plus is that your ride will be mapped on gps and you can log in and see when and where you go. And now, when you just sign-up you will have $30 of free Uber credits for your next trip!

Some other things to note about Uber is that while it’s advertised as a phone app booking transportation service, you can still book online. If you’re traveling and don’t have your phone or service you are still able to book through their website, you just need to select a pick-up location.

Uber has four types of cars you can request when they’re available:

  • UberX
  • Taxi
  • SUV
  • Black
  • SUV
  • Lux

Uber’s website mentions that there is no need to tip and that 20% of your metered fare will be tipped to the taxi driver. It doesn’t mention anything about the other types of vehicles so if you want to tip your driver, you are likely welcomed to do so. You can also preset you account to tip a set amount every ride you take.

The bottom line is that Uber is a pretty reliable service. For one, it uses a GPS tracking system so you know where your car is and where it goes. Unlike taxi services, you generally won’t get ripped off. The app shows you the rates for the city you’re in, which is what you will pay. On top of that, you never need cash riding Uber because your account will be charged automatically.

Enjoy the free $30 in Uber credits, happy travels!
