On Tuesday I posted an Amazing Deal: $2-4 Avis Weekend Car Rental Until June 30, 2013 which allowed customers to book two free weekend days with no minimum rental–basically a free weekend rental (plus the small fee of $2-4). The code is valid for rentals through June 30, 2013 at participating locations in the U.S.

Of course, Avis was hit with a huge number of customers booking with this coupon, and yesterday the coupon was no longer valid for bookings on the Avis site. You will with a message like this:

This coupon code is no longer valid for bookings on the Avis site.

If you still want to make a reservation with this deal you are still in luck. There is currently a workaround by booking the car rental through United’s site. Customers can enter the coupon code for their car rental partners on the United site.

When booking the rental on United’s site, the first rate you will see will be the regular rate, but once I make the reservation you will receive an Avis confirmation number. From here you can check on their site, the price should show up as $0.

You can still book this deal on United.com by choosing the “Car” tab, then hit “Advanced Search” and entering TUEA002 for the Avis promotional code.

To book this deal on United.com, just select the “Car” tab, then “Advanced Search”. You will be able to enter the TUEA002 coupon code for the Avis “promotional code”. You can confirm your price with the Avis confirmation code after booking the reservation.

There are some reports of people being asked to present a paper coupon when picking up their vehicle. So if you did make a reservation through this promo, it is always a good idea to have a backup plan if Avis decides not to honor it.

I personally rented a vehicle using this code, but I don’t pick up my vehicle until next week. Avis should honor these bookings, but it is always a good idea to make refundable reservations to be safe.

Share you own experiences with this deal and if Avis is honoring it when picking up the car. Comment below or Tweet me @welltraveldmile.
