The new IHG Rewards Into the Nights fall promotion is now open for registrations and is certainly worth going after if you’re looking to score a few free nights at IHG properties. IHG Rewards is the loyalty program for Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza as well as several other hotel brands.
IHG Rewards Club has several incredibly valuable promotions and perks including its quarterly PointBreaks list that offers reward nights for 5,000 points, free nights from their Best Rate Guarantee, stackable promo codes, and seasonal promotions such as the current ‘Into the Nights’ promotion.
IHG’s Into the Nights promotion is a potentially very rewarding and can be worth up to 2 free nights plus extra IHG points. Registration for the promotion is now open for IHG members and the promotion period runs through the end of the year.
The way the promotion works is that you have to complete a number of smaller goals to earn the full bonus, in which case the two free nights is likely the most valuable choice. When you complete each of the smaller goals you will also earn additional IHG points along the way, making the full promotion worth two free nights plus whatever points you earn from the smaller bonuses.
Earn Two Free Nights Plus Bonus Points
The key to this promotion is that you can use the two free nights at ANY IHG property. So obviously the best way to maximize this is to earn the two free nights from cheap IHG stays, and then turn around and redeem the free nights at a top-tier InterContinental hotel within IHG’s program. Reward nights at some InterContinental hotels can go for up to 50,000 points per night and easily run $300+ per night.
As with many recent hotel promotions the offer may vary from member to member. Although not across the board, generally frequent IHG customers get tougher (and possible more rewarding) offers whereas new or infrequent IHG customers get straight forward offers. Anyone that signs up for a new account will get the straight forward promo offers and can earn two free nights (plus earned points) after 3 paid nights.
To register for the promotion all that is needed is to log into your IHG Rewards account and click the terms to register. You will see your specific promotional details after you register and can weigh whether or not it’s worth pursuing. At the end of the day the full bonus looks to be either two free nights or 50,000 IHG points on top of the points that you earn for participating in the promotion.

For example, my bonus for the promotion looks like this:
The promo that is offered to me comes down to staying four nights at IHG hotels—two of the stays must be at a Holiday Inn and booked through IHG.com or their mobile app. Pretty easy if you ask me, especially since I will be able to put the paid stays to good use at cheaper IHG properties. My tasks are short and simple, but I do have to stay one more night than the baseline promotion.
After completing the stays I will have my choice of either:
- 50,000 bonus IHG Rewards points (19,200 points earned along the way and 30,800 pointas earned from the full bonus)
- 2 free nights + 19,200 IHG Rewards points
The two free nights is the obvious choice for the full bonus, since it comes down to the two free nights or 30,800 points. I could easily take the two free nights and use them for a two night stay worth 60,000+ points.
Per Travel is Free, the free nights are essentially the same as free night earned from the IHG Mastercard anniversary bonus. So this not only makes it possible to redeem the nights at any IHG property, but you can also easily book the free night online through your account as long as there is standard award night availability. The free nights will expire 12 months after being issued to your account.
The Bottom Line
Earning two free night at any IHG hotel plus extra bonus points on top of the normal points earned for your stays makes this a very generous and worthwhile promotion. If you haven’t already it’s worth registering and taking a look at your targeted offer to see what you can get.

Do award nights count as “stays” or do they have to be paid? I’m also wondering how it works if I’ve already booked a 4 night stay for later in the month.
Andy, only paid stays will be eligible for the promo, so award nights won’t count. I assume the only way to have previously booked nights count would be to cancel and rebook the stays.
