Update: The 30,000 point offer is expired, please check my credit cards page for the current top offers.

American Express has just increased the Enhanced Business Gold Rewards card and to 30,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $5,000 within 3 months. A new perk of this card is that you also get a free 1 year Amazon Prime membership through a statement credit. This is perfect timing for all the holiday shopping around the corner because with Amazon Prime you get unlimited 2-day free shipping on Amazon.

This bonus isn’t ground shaking, but the previous Business Gold Rewards card had NO bonus points offer. Over the last year, the card has had bonus offers ranging from zero, 50k, 75k, and now this 30,000 offer + 1 year free Amazon Prime membership (worth $79). The free Amazon Prime membership can be a huge value to anyone who shops on Amazon, and personally I love it because I can have my stuff at my doorsteps in two days. Just watch out so you don’t buy more than you need!

This increased welcome bonus is an interesting middle-ground between the previous zero points offer and its past 50,000 and 75,000 points limited one-day offers. The comparable Chase cards are the Chase Ink Bold and Chase Ink Plus cards that both offer 50,000 bonus points.

Card Earnings

Similar to the Premier Rewards Gold card, the business card version earns 3x points on airfare, 2x points on purchases in the U.S. for advertising in select media, gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations, select computer hardware, software and cloud computing providers, shipping. You will earn 1x points on all other purchases. It is easy to remember the 3/2/1 spend bonus categories for this card.

You can still qualify for this and other business cards if you don’t have a major business, all you have to do is apply using your own social security number and list your business as a sole proprietorship. Most card issuers will let you get a business card if you state that you own your own business, and it can even be a startup with no income!

Transfer Partners

American Express Membership Rewards are a valuable point because they give you the flexibility on what and how you want to redeem your points. You can transfer points to any of these transfer partners:

Airlines

Star Alliance: Air Canada Aeroplan, Singapore, All Nippon Airlines

Oneworld: British Airways, Iberia, Cathay Pacific

Skyteam: Delta, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Alitalia, Aeromexico

Other: Virgin America, Virgin Atlantic, El Al, Frontier, JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines

Hotels

Starwood 3:1

Hilton 1: 1.3

Best Western 1:1

Jumeirah 23:1

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for another card to apply for during a round of card applications the Enhanced Business Gold Rewards 30,000 bonus points offer is not a bad deal. You could combine this with Chase’s limited time offers on the Chase Freedom 20,000 bonus points offer and the Sapphire Preferred 45,000 bonus points offer.

If you aren’t looking for another card to apply for at the moment I would wait for a better offer to come out on this card. I would expect a offer similar to the 50k level at some point in the future again, but be ready because in the past they were one-day high offers.
