IHG Rewards Club released a preview for the upcoming PointsBreak September list today. The full list of hotels will be announced and bookable on Monday, September 29, 2014. The new list will be valid for stays between September 29, 2014 to November 30, 2014.
If you’re not familiar with IHG’s PointBreaks promotion, it is among the most generous discounted award night promotions out there. Every few months IHG Rewards Club releases a list of hotels that offer award nights at a hugely discounted cost of 5,000 points per night.
Given that mid to top-tier IHG properties range from 20,000 to 50,000 points per night, PointBreaks can be incredibly valuable if the destination lines up for your travels. It basically breaks down to booking award nights at a cost of $35 per night when you buy IHG points for 0.7 cents each using the Cash & Points trick---or even less if you purchased the points for 0.58 cents during IHG’s 100% bonus last week.

A Quick Glance at the New List
Well, the preview of the upcoming isn’t ground shaking, but given the past few it was almost expected. There are a handful European properties that could be useful, but nothing close to a top-tier hotel. Likely the nicest property on the list is the InterContinental Nha Trang, Vietnam.
I was hoping for a property in Argentina and was excited to Buenos Aires on the list. However, it is not one of the properties located downtown, but rather the Holiday Inn Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport.
As always, the list really boils down to whether or not you can find a property that works with your travels and if so can mean cheap IHG award nights. It’s always worth taking a look at the preview list to see if there is a useful property to jump on when the list goes live (around 9:00 EST)---some properties get snatched up fast. Also, the list could change before it’s released on Monday so it’s always worth checking the final list when the properties are available for bookings.
