Amex Platinum Card Adds Hilton Gold Status As Benefit

American Express has long offered SPG Gold status, but now they just improved the benefits of their Platinum card by adding Hilton HHonors Gold status as a card benefit.

Normally to earn Hilton Gold status you need to To achieve or retain HHonors Gold status, you need to earn either make 20 stays or 40 nights in a calendar year, or earn 75,000 HHonors Base Points in a calendar year. But, now you can get it automatically if you have an Amex Platinum card.

Some of the major benefits of Hilton HHonors Gold status include:

  • Guaranteed lounge access/breakfast for members and one guest
  • Complimentary room upgrade
  • Receive every 5th night free on Standard Room Reward stays of 5 nights or more
  • 25% bonus on points for stays
  • Guaranteed room type
  • Hertz #1 Gold membership
  • Free premium tiered internet service
  • Free local phone and local fax

Hilton Gold Status Added As Benefit on Amex Platinum Card

The benefit doesn't appear to be marketed on the main product page of the American Express Platinum card, but you can find the benefit listed under the card's full terms and conditions.

What You Need To Do

If you have a Amex Platinum card and what to enroll in Hilton HHonors Gold all you need to do is request to register. After this you will maintain Hilton Gold status as long as you are a Amex Platinum cardmember.

Also, don't forget that your Amex Platinum card also offers SPG Gold status, so now it's a nice perk that you can get two free elite status from your Platinum card.
